Teaching The Young To Be Discipline

I read an article written by a parent as well as a teacher. I kind of agree with him. He is questioning on where our education policy is being routed to? To tell you the truth, I have no idea my self. Everytime, someone new comes in as a Minister or DG in the education department or even as a principal/headmaster in a new school, things change according to his interest. There is no continuity at all. This actually makes the entire system that we have in a mess. Who is going to get the blame? Of course, who else can we blame as parents, our fingers will directly point to the teachers. A pity lot they are for the screw up done by the higher people within the system it self.

Lets take a look at the discipline in school.. There is no authority at all for teachers to punish the students. Of course if teachers go overboard, then we will be angry. Common, we use to have detention classes those days back in the 70's and 80's. If you tell your parents you need to go for detention classes, then you get a few strokes of rotan or belt first. Then you can go to the detention class. Today, if teachers scold the students, or ask them to wash the toilets, or ask them to stand up on the chairs, the entire community will come up to the teachers. But you cannot blame the parents too, coz we need to understand how these teachers were selected. Any tom, dick or harry can be a teacher now coz we are having limited teachers.

So, is it a surprised then our country is being turned into a hooliganism country? Not a surprise right. You can see all kind of harassment, be it at work, school, or even as you walk down the street.

We should go for the correct selection process. Then we should give teachers some authority to discipline the children. Remember, children spent more time in school then in their own house. We must educate the children on what is right and what is wrong from the young. They can have all the money that they want, but what is the point if they have no self-respect for themselves?

Education is not merely passing the exams with straight 'A's which I have serious doubts. If the teachers are so good, then they should be posted to interior schools for 2 years at least and bring up the standards in that school as well as to train up the other teachers to be as good as them. My Goodness grace, how can a student score 13A's for SPM? I really wonder if they mistakenly typed Standard 6 questions for a form five level or were the exam papers somehow leaked? These are some of the questions that keeps on playing in my mind. Some students are naturally good. No doubt on that. But what makes me to question these people are, as they go into Universities, and when they come out to work, you should actually see how the converse in English. Huhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

Enough said. Hope to hear comments....

hmmmm... interesting posts so far but non interactive page.. looking forward to see many more Indian bloggers in the blogosphere.

our national education system really depends in the achievements of A's rather than actual performance of the students.very disappointing to see such students. im a local varsity graduate but my opportunities are tarnished by these incompetent lot of students who claim to be high achievers but know nothing more than the books has to offer.. sad.... BUT very true...
the fact of it is we need CHANGES!!!
